Call for Papers
BIPCAL is a new international, open access and peer-reviewed journal hosted at the University Library of Regensburg on bibliometrics, scientometrics, alternative metrics, and related topics. The main objective is to provide a platform for sharing innovative ideas, new developments and approaches, but also concerns about quantitative research assessment initiatives.
BIPCAL is addressed to researchers, information professionals, and administrative staff of research institutions.
The journal will apply for indexing in bibliographic databases like SCOPUS and Web of Science. All articles will be published under a CC-by license, provided with a DOI, and are free of charges for both authors and readers. Articles will be published in a continuous way as soon as they passed peer-review.
The inaugural issue is intended as a special issue on open bibliographic databases like Google Scholar or Microsoft Academic. Expected contributions can be research articles, reviews, or short communications addressing e.g. the following topics:
How can open bibliographic databases be used in bibliometric studies in a responsible and appropriate way?
What are the advantages and disadvantages of these databases?
Comparisons of freely-accessible versus fee-based databases, based on sound bibliometric studies
How can data derived from open bibliographic databases be reused efficiently, like in current information systems (CRIS) or repositories?
Or any other questions related to open bibliographical databases
We are looking forward to many submissions.
